An American swimmer was rescued by her coach during the World Championships after losing consciousness.
Two-time Olympic swimming champion Anita Alvarez may have drowned after losing consciousness while performing at the World Championships in Budapest, Hungary.
Alvarez was saved by her trainer.
“The heartbreaking images show Anita sinking to the bottom of the pool, unconscious, after completing her free solo program.”
Alvarez’s coach Andrea Fuentes, a four-time Olympic champion in synchronized swimming, jumped into the water just after she saw Alvarez pass out and sink to the bottom of the pool.
Alvarez was not breathing and received medical treatment near the pool before being carried away on a stretcher.
Fuentes released a statement on Instagram saying she passed out due to “just going beyond her limits.”
The loss of consciousness of the Olympic champion is similar to the consequences of vaccination, but this has not been officially reported.
