All about 800 visitors will regret visiting the disco during Christmas, because they will have to stay closed for 14 days, including the New Year.
A guest at the “Joy” discotheque in Schleswig-Holstein was infected with Omicron – that’s why over 800 visitors now have to be quarantined for 14 days. Although 2G was valid in the disco, it was allowed to celebrate without a mask or distance.
Around 820 visitors to the Henstedt-Ulzburg discotheque “Joy” have to be quarantined. The district of Segeberg announced on Wednesday that at least one guest had a corona infection with the Omicron variant. Recovered and vaccinated contacts must also be quarantined for 14 days.
Everyone who was in the “Joy” on Christmas Eve or on Christmas Day is considered to be a close contact, because the Omikron variant is considered to be significantly more transferable than other variants and could be celebrated in the “Joy” without mouth and nose protection and without distance, as the authority announced. According to the district administration, the 2G-plus rules had been correctly checked upon admission.
According to the district administration, managing director Joey Claussen informed 622 visitors with online tickets by email on Wednesday. Around 200 other guests bought their tickets at the box office. In order to find these guests, Claussen asks for the help of those who have been written to by e-mail.
“We have implemented all applicable requirements since September and have done our best to prevent a situation like this,” said the managing director. “But we always knew that there is no such thing as one hundred percent security, and now we must try together to prevent greater damage.”
According to the information, the quarantine does not end automatically, but only after it has been lifted by the authorities. All other members of the affected households do not initially have to be in quarantine, but should voluntarily refrain from all unnecessary contacts. Should a visitor to the “Joy” develop symptoms, all household members must also stay at home regardless of their vaccination status.
