Nature Medicine released a study based on a broad population data set analyzed by researchers at the University of Oxford. They examined the risks of myocarditis, pericarditis, and cardiac arrhythmias associated with vaccinations and COVID-19 infection.
Oxford researchers found that 1 in 100 or 1% of all vaccinated people were hospitalized or died of arrhythmias or irregular heartbeats.
Of the 38,615,491 vaccinated in the study, 385,508 (1.0%) were hospitalized or died of cardiac arrhythmias at any time during the study period (before or after vaccination); 86,754 (0.2%) of these occurred within 1-28 days after any dose of vaccine was administered. Of those who were hospitalized or died, 39,897 (10.3%) tested positive for SARS-CoV-2 and 29,694 (7.7%) tested positive before vaccination. There were 7,795 deaths from which cardiac arrhythmias were reported as the cause of death (1,108 people tested positive for SARS-CoV-2).
