Fauci criticized the unvaccinated on Monday and said it was “unacceptable” that millions of Americans refuse to receive an experimental Covid vaccine.
People are not allowed to have political opinions, and they cannot make their own medical decisions, he said.
“There is a highly effective vaccine that is very safe, and there are 50 million people in the country who refuse to get vaccinated, many of whom are solely motivated by differences in political ideology, which is really unacceptable.”
Last week, Fauci discussed how to deal with the unvaccinated during a talk on MSNBC.
Andrea Mitchell asked Fauci if officials should abandon mandatory vaccines after a federal court banned the use of Biden vaccines for federal employees.
“I would, and we would all prefer, that people get vaccinated voluntarily, but if they are not going to do it, sometimes they have to do something that is unpopular.”
