Queen’s aides accused of trying to hide her hospital stay
Buckingham Palace has been accused of misleading the nation about the Queen’s health.
Commentators, including the BBC’s Royal Correspondent Nicholas Whitchell, wondered if the palace had eroded public confidence by failing to disclose information that the Queen had been taken to hospital. She was admitted on Wednesday afternoon and stayed there overnight for tests.
The palace communications group told reporters that the queen remained at Windsor Castle.
However, on Thursday night – more than 24 hours later – it was confirmed that she was taken to a private hospital in London.
“We were told that the Queen is resting … we were not given the full picture,” correspondent Nicholas Whitchell told BBC Breakfast that the situation is “difficult to read.”
Are the audience being prepared for the Queen’s official departure?
