Japan’s Ministry of Health said on Saturday that two people have died after being vaccinated with Moderna
The ministry said the men in their 30s died within days of receiving the second dose of Moderna. Each of them managed to get into one of three production batches suspended on Thursday.
The causes of death are being investigated.
Recall that on Thursday, Japan suspended the use of 1.63 million doses sent to 863 vaccination centers nationwide after local distributor Takeda Pharmaceutical received reports of contaminants in some of the vials.
The pollutant found in the shipment to Japan is believed to be a metal particle, Japanese public broadcaster NHK reported, citing sources at the Ministry of Health.
